It is recommended you get multiple bids before making a major purchase and this is good advice in most cases.  However, this is very bad advice when it comes to water damage to your home or business.  Water damage requires immediate attention in order to minimize the total cost of damage and subsequent repairs.  The source of the infiltration needs to be stopped, then extraction of as much remaining water as possible, with aggressive drying to follow, ASAP! 

This necessary mitigation prevents further damage from occurring, thus limiting the scope of repair necessary to make it "Like it never even happened." Your Insurance Agent can confirm and explain why you are, in fact, obligated by the terms of your policy to take the reasonable steps necessary to secure your property, preventing further damage from occurring.  Ideally, timely mitigation can make demolition unnecessary, reducing costs and disruption to your home or business.
